Ok I'm another hard luck case the had my car die on me or rather the engine ate it's self .... any who I bought a '95 Bonneville nice care and all, but the audio controls are in the steering wheel and would like to (of course) use the existing stereo (mainly cause it has a 12 CD changer in the back) but there's no place to mount my "Precious”. Has any one here installed an Empeg/Rio into this type of car? Any suggestions would be appreciated. Or has anyone hacked the steering wheel controls to act like a Sony stalk or other such units.

The PAC SWI-X might work for interfacing to the steering wheel controls.

Wow that's a cool product, thanks! I'll look to see if there's more info on it, then I'll try to figure out were to hide the IR LED so my "precious" will see it but no one else does.

Ok nm on the more info I see they have an on-line manual

Also don't forget to look up the other steering wheel connection options listed here. But keep this, this, and this in mind. There's a project underway to get a remote display working from the player's serial port, but it isn't ready for prime time yet.

Greetings!

You might want to look at my install. I used to have a Bonneville, but I have a Riviera now. Very similar Buick setup, though. I do not use the steering wheel controls for the empeg - I have the factory stereo going through speaker -> line adapters into the aux in of the empeg. This way, I have the steering wheel controls for the radio/CD/tape, but still have full empeg functionality. Not that I have ever used the factory system since putting the empeg in...

Well, I think that my "precious" will not have any other friends in the dash. I think at some time I'll use the controls so I won't need to have the remote with me in the car maybe.

Thanks again for the information guys.
